About

Following the tradition of a number of visual artists that have come to be identified more by their pseudonyms than by their names, David Gomez prefers to use the artistic name of D’Goca.
Originary from the city of Jerez in Zacatecas, Mexico. David grew up in Lake County, Illinois. He has had formal art training at both, the College of Lake County in Illinois and La Casa de la Cultura en Jerez, Zacatecas.
In addition to be an accomplished oil and acrylics painter, David is also a photographer, his main subjects are the colors and details of his native land.
“I love a white canvas, I enjoy the art process and the capability to create from that white piece of fabric a finished painting with a strong composition, where light, shadow and color come together to add texture and character to the final piece….
…I usually work with several pieces at a time, and some of my paintings can take some time to finish. I am satisfied only when I believe that I can not add or eliminate anything. It may sound strange, but the painting just let me know when it is done”
